Each deck builds upon the previous one to ease you into reading and memorizing words written with JLPT N5 kanji.
Learning kanji gets much easier when you gradually ease into it.
Step 1 - Learn basic kanji characters
First, get to know the meaning and basic shape of individual characters. For example:
You can make this fun and visual with The Kanji Colouring Book, which pairs each kanji character with its English meaning and a simple image.
Step 2 - Learn related kana vocabulary
Next, learn the JLPT N5 vocabulary in kana that are related to those kanjis, for example:
This will help you to read and recognise kanjis in the final step.
Step 3 - Combine what you have learned
This is where everything comes together. The kanji meanings you learned in Step 1 and the kana words you practiced in Step 2 now link up and form lasting connections in your memory.
For example, because you already know the meanings of 倧 (large) and δΊΊ (person), the compound word 倧人 (large.person) is easier to remember as adult (which you have learned as γγ¨γͺ in Step 2).
This means you can now recognise individual kanjis, get an idea of what the word means, and link the Japanese word to the kanjis.
Enjoy your kanji learning journey!
